![]() ![]() Be sure that you buy an PCIe/NVME drive not a SATA drive in the M.2 format! I'd personally look at the major OEMs rather than cutting corners on such a key component. Ultra-Fast M.2 with PCIe Gen3 x4 & SATA interface - Notice that your M.2 socket supports both types of M.2 meaning it's likely B+M keyed. (If you intend to make this a boot drive, that's a whole different post owing to decisions to be made about cloning the existing drive vs potential GPT and Windows 11 upgrade logistics.) Otherwise, save money and buy a PCIe3 M.2 - on your rig there will be no performance difference. Will this be a data only drive for holding games or do you intend to make it a boot drive? Do you intend to take it with you to your next PC? If the latter is true, you probably want to pay for a PCIe4 M.2 even though the board can't fully utilize it now. However, this does raise a couple of questions. I would normally steer you away from drives using QVC to TLC memory, but that's an older board and you'll likely replace it before the M.2 wears out. New NVME drives that implement HBO well are nearly as fast as ones with DRAM, so I wouldn't let affect your choice.
